Every student at Orem High knows about our cross-town rivals, Mountain View. But what is their point of view on it? I interviewed a few Mountain View Bruins for their opinion on our school rivalry.

Alex Smith, a Mountain View student, shared his opinion. “I try hard not to get into the rivalry and I hate it because I live in Orem High boundaries.” Do we place too much pressure on the people we know who go to our rival school?

Other students had different opinions on the rivalry between Mountain View and Orem. Alyssa Granados, a member of student council at Mountain View, said, “The rivalry between Orem and Mountain View brings out the best school spirit in us all! We all get a chance to show off our school spirit and yell our cheers hoping the best outcome for our teams. The intensity between our team makes it all the more fun!” She thinks, and many agree with her, that the rivalry between the two schools doesn’t bring out the worst in us, but the best!

As long as school rivalries don’t ever get out of hand, they are great for all schools. It can help bring more students to games, and creates a fun atmosphere for pep rallies and contests.
