Orem High School has been in our city since 1956, and many things have happened through the years. School traditions that have been established for so long are still around, and they make Orem High what it is.

It’s hard to pinpoint the exact time and place when the traditions started. One Orem High School student said, “For as long as I’ve been here, the traditions have been enforced. They’re fun to get into, and it’s a great way to have school spirit.”

There are many school traditions at Orem High, such as kissing the tiger in the lunchroom if you step on it, singing the school song after assemblies and sporting events, and the hot wing contest if you are trying out for student council. They make students at school more unified.

Another high school student said, “It doesn’t matter who steps on the tiger, I’m gonna make them kiss it. Afterwards, we can be friends.”

Orem High School traditions were here when it started and they’ll be here long after we’re gone. They helped shape the school to what it has become, and will continue shaping it for a long time. They’re what alumni will remember when they look back on their school days, and what they’ll treasure in their memories.
