The Provo Bakery began in a small white house on a corner in downtown Provo. Although the bakery has been remodeled, it’s recipes altered, and ownership changed; it still has the magic that have kept customers coming back for 75 years.

The Provo Bakery has many traditions around it. Every 4th of July after the hot air balloons have been released, the bakery’s staff goes wild as many families go by and grab a delicious donut afterwards.

Michelle Golightly, a resident of Provo in her youth and an expert donut critic said, “I went to the bakery after the balloons with my family and there were at least 100 people there.”

The Provo Bakery has made a name for itself not only in Utah Valley but across America. In 2017 the Provo Bakery entered into the Sweetest Bakery in America contest and got 5th place overall.

An employee said, “The store’s most popular donuts are the maple bar and the old fashioned donut… if you want one, you’ll have to come before noon to make sure you get one.”

Of course, one doesn’t become a thriving business after 75 years with only two good donuts. All the sweets at the Provo Bakery are noteworthy.
Jessica Williams, a senior, said, “My favorite thing to get is the strawberry icing donut. Whenever I’m in downtown Provo before 2 o’clock, I go and get one.”

Another student at Orem High said, “I always get the filled croissant, it’s so good, I could eat it no matter the time of day!”
