[media-credit name=”morgue file” align=”alignnone” width=”300″]file3831267423635[/media-credit]It seems like all that people do after school these days is sit around. Have they forgotten how to be kids? They need to get out and play. They need to learn how to live. Maybe all they need is some ideas.

If you just hate being outside, try something inside that doesn’t entail you sitting on your butt. Learn how to cook something new. If you have never cooked anything before, try boxed mac and cheese. If you can do that, try something a little bit more fun like cookies.

You could learn a craft. I’m sure there are some scraps of paper and glue around your house. Try card making. Master the art of paper plane folding. Or, if you are feeling ambitious, try something a bit more challenging. Have your mom, grandma, or perhaps even your brother show you how to sew or knit. You never know when it could come in handy.

If that sounds too old lady for you, because you are the first person shooting game type, try something like airsoft or archery. You can find affordable stuff all over. Don’t bother getting targets though. Just use old cans and siblings (not for archery of course. I do not condone injuring people). If you choose airsoft, do invest in safety goggles.

If you neither like being inside or outside and you have a car with a full gas tank, go for a drive. If the canyon roads aren’t under six feet of snow, go and look at the scenery. If you are afraid of heights, just drive around town. You may discover an amazing new restaurant.

Try to not be an introvert for a day or two. Go out and meet new people. Take an art class or a fitness class. Find a group of people your age, or a group of middle aged men, who like to reenact civil war battles. Try to find some people who you identify with, but you may want to ask your parents’ permission first.

Throw a party! If you have no friends, or your friends are just lame, have a party for one. Toss on whatever music makes you wiggle and have a crazy, out of control, dance party! It sounds lame, but dancing is exercise and it gives you tons of endorphins, which make you happy.

Get away from your virtual game of Uno with the computer and actually play it in real life. Ask that thing your parents say is your little brother or sister to join in. Who knows? Maybe you will enjoy spending time with them.

If none of this sounds appealing to you, and you don’t have any ideas of your own, try sitting outside. Leave the TV, phone, and computer alone for a bit, and take in the world around you. Breathe in the fresh air, if the air quality is good. Watch the sunrise or sunset. You may just start living.
