The leaves are falling, the days are shorter, and the weather is colder. It’s Winter, and the holidays are coming. When people think of this time of the year, gratitude is often a big part of the season.

This presented a question. What is Gratitude at Orem high?

Cami Teran, an OHS Sophomore defined gratitude as, “Being grateful for what you have, and showing that you care for others, even when you think they don’t care about you, but they do, and like being there for your family and your friends that need you the most, and like never giving up, always keep trying.”

What are some thoughts other tigers have about Gratitude?

Katelynn Ramage, a Senior at OHS said, “It [gratitude] makes me happy, especially when people show me gratitude for things I have done, and also just telling people that I’m thankful for what they have given me, and also thanking God for what he’s given me just makes me feel happy.”

How does gratitude affect our students?

Jenna Larsen, another OHS Senior said, “It [gratitude] makes me happier.”

When asked this question, Jonathan Kotter, an OHS Sophmore said,  “ Just being very conscious of all of the blessings I have, remember that everyday is a blessing, and that I probably shouldn’t have everyday the way it is, live everyday the best I can.”

It seems our Tigers have a lot to say about a topic that can bring happiness and appreciation for the things around us, especially near the holidays when we are reminded that we have so much to be grateful for.

What does our student body do to show gratitude?

Katelynn said, “I like to thank people who have helped me with things I am grateful for, I also like to say thank you in my prayers every night.”

Jenna said, “I will do service to them, or give them something.”

Gratitude is prevalent at Orem high, and just in time for the season. After all, what better way to spend the holidays than being grateful for the things you have surrounded by the people you love?
