For the first time in 20 years, a Republican presidential candidate not only won the electoral college but also the popular vote, leaving befuddled citizens in its wake. After such a tight polling race, Trump’s startling win left many people on all sides of the political spectrum questioning why. So here are the top reasons Trump won the election.
Reach—Trump garnered a surprising 46% of votes from the 18-29 age group, and many people attribute this win to Trump and Vance’s large interview campaign. Trump appeared on many popular podcasts, reaching a new age group, and Vance took on many interviews from the left, presenting his view to a new audience.
Biden—While Biden stepped down, his presidency continued to affect Harris’s campaign, with his average approval rating of only 38%.
Shortly before the election, there was also an interaction between Obama and Biden, where according to lip readers (take it with a grain of salt) Biden said “Harris isn’t strong”.
On another note, Biden also came out and called Trump’s supporters garbage, saying: “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters,” as in Trump.
Differences – One of the most pressing issues that Americans are worried about is the economy and its declining state, both candidates were looked to for more information about their plan to fix the economy, however, a concern arose when Harris was asked on the View by ABC co-host Sunny Hostin “What, if anything, would you have done something differently than President Biden during the past four years?” Harris responded with “There is not a thing that comes to mind,” Concerning because this decline did happen under Biden’s watch.
Religion – Finally a big breaking point for many Americans, was at Kamala Harris’s rally in Wisconsin where several students started chanting: “Jesus is Lord” She paused her speech to reply “You’re at the wrong rally.”
