Q: What is your full name? What is the meaning behind your name?
A: My full name is Ammon Dean Kaohimaunu Young. My parents are really strong in the gospel, so they named me Ammon after the prophet. Dean is my dad’s middle name, Kaohimaunu is also a family name which translates to shark bait. When I first heard that I was kinda not happy about that because that means I was the bait, but my mom explained that it’s like a warrior. Young is my dad and grandpa’s last name, he is Chinese.
Q: How do you spend your free time?
A: A lot of it is probably on my phone. I like watching shows and spending time with my family. I really like playing the piano, listening to music. I really like shows that are long enough that you can binge them for a really long time, I don’t have one specific one.
Q: What are you passionate about? Why?
A: Family time. I was always raised like family comes first and I think it’s important and will make me successful.
Q: What makes you unique?
A: I’m unique in the way I react to things. I try to be happier and positive.
Q: What motivates you in life?
A: My mom. She had cancer 2 years ago and seeing everything she went through motivated me to do more with what I was able to do and to live happier and have a more full life.
Q: How would you describe yourself in two words? Why those two?
A: Silly and lazy. Silly because I really like having fun, but at appropriate times. Lazy because I really like to lay down and sleep.
Q: What is a vivid memory or experience you’ll never forget?
A: I remember one Christmas morning I woke up and I came downstairs and there was this big present that was wrapped up and it was a bike. It was really awesome, it was a big thing for me at the time.
Q: Do you play a sport and what is your favorite sport team?
A: I’m wrestling right now. To be honest I don’t have one, I’m rooting for everyone.
Q: What is your weirdest quirk?
A: I don’t like to type or write in all capital letters. I think they should all be lowercase so they’re all the same size. I’ll type in capital letters if I put an emoji sometimes cause they’ll be the same size as the emoji, it’s kinda weird.
Q: What makes you feel alive?
A: Spending time with my family, playing games with them. Also when I know that I’m around people who like to have fun the same way I do.
