Orem High Basketball survived two close games last week, taking on Corner Canyon on Tuesday and Timpanogos on Friday. After both wins, the Tigers are ranked #1 in Utah 4A heading into the new week.

Tuesday’s game was a nail-biter, as the Chargers made a rally late in the 4th to cut down the Tiger’s built up lead. After hitting four 3’s in a row, the Tigers found themselves only up two going into the last minute. On the last play of the game, Corner Canyon took the ball to the rim while getting fouled. He missed the last free-throw, leaving Orem High victorious 61-60.

Three days later, the high-ranked Tigers took on Timpanogos. While having a contested lead throughout the game, the Tigers pulled ahead in the 4th quarter as the T-Wolf spirit started to fade. After Hayden Young knocked down six free throws in a row, the Tigers came out winning once again.

Orem’s defense has held opponents under 50 points in ten of their thirteen contests, including an average of 5.1 blocks per game. Richard Harward and Will Clark lead the team in scoring for the year, with 14.5 and 14.1 respectively, followed by Hayden Young with 11.5 per game.

The Tigers will look to continue their unscathed region record against Murray on January 13th.
