With the fall sports wrapping up and the winter sports kicking up, here’s a look at how the fall teams did and a look into the winter teams.
The football team finished with a 3-8 record, losing to Roy in the first round of the playoffs. Tucker Camp was 5th in 4A passing with 2361 yards and 30 touchdowns as well as 9th rushing with 803 yards and 9 TDs, adding up to 3164 total yards. James Wadsworth finished 29th with 451 rushing yards and 3 TDs. Chase Hermann had a great receiving season, finishing 2nd with 1001 yards and 8 touchdowns. Kody Codner was 23rd with 585 yards and 9 touchdowns.
The Girls Soccer team was 1-12-1, missing the playoffs. They lost some close ones against Olympus, Skyline, and Mountain View twice, each game being decided by one goal. They won against Murray 2-1.Boys Cross Country was 2nd in Region 7 and 7th in State 4A while girls were 5th in Region and couldn’t quite qualify for state. Jiraa and Jiree Riding were the two fastest boys for Orem, separated by 3 seconds at state. Alexis MacArthur and Brenna Jeffs qualified individually for State.
Girls Volleyball finished 9-14 and lost both state games to Sky View and Clearfield. Despite some rough stretches early and during the season, Orem was able and string together some wins to make it to the playoffs but lost to powerhouse Sky View.
Boys Golf won Region 7 but didn’t play as well at state. They went undefeated in season match ups and Brock Stanger had an outstanding season as well.
Girls Tennis had Callie Forsyth qualify in the 1st Singles, Anne Marie Bitter in the 2nd Singles, Devri Deucher and Madaline Black together in the 2nd Doubles, and the team took 5th at State with 7 points. Deucher and Black won their bracket, defeating Anna Holley and Carley Williams of Skyline.
Both Boys and Girls Basketball teams had tryouts this week. The boys season opener is
November 25 at Spanish Fork. They have the Great Western Shootout and Tarkanian Classic in December before starting region play January 6 at home against Corner Canyon. The Girls season opener is against Tooele at home and also have the Shanon Johnson Uintah Classic December 5 and 6. They open the region against Mountain View on December 30.
Swimming had their first meet November 7. They performed well last year and with some key swimmers returning, they will be setting their sights on a State Championship.
Wrestling has their first match on November 25. The wrestlers have been lifting and training for a few months and will be looking forward to that match to start off the season strong.
