Concurrent Enrollment is a program based out of Utah Valley University that allows high school students to earn college credit while still in high school. Orem High is one of only 48 high schools in Utah that participates in this program.

The C.E. (concurrent enrollment) program can save students thousands of dollars in tuition fees. According to the UVU website, high school students simply pay a $35 tuition fee and then $5 per credit hour that can be earned from the classes.

Some of the classes that can be used for C.E. at Orem High are Spanish 4, French 4, and Pre-calculus. To get the college credit the teacher may give a couple of extra tests or quizzes.

“The classes aren’t very different from normal ones, you just earn college credit at the same time,” said Marie Jacobs, a senior.

All of the classes give both high school and college credit. These credits earned are transferable to any state college in Utah.

For more information, go to the counselors for a full list of classes offered. Mrs. Huntington is the advisor for the Concurrent Enrollment program. Visit www.uvu.edu/concurrent/ to read about more about it.
